The games were played on one field, Rush Field. Then as the event grew the marathon was played in Valley Falls and Nortonville. Eventually enough funds were raised to create the second field, Davis Field.
Rush Field was named from one of the locals biggest fans, who never was able to play the game, but was one of the biggest sports fans of Valley Falls. The late Junior 'Rush'.
Davis Field was named after the late Dick 'Davis', one of the original founders of the Valley Falls Athletic Association.
The VFAA is ran strictly by volunteers, donations and the funds raised through the marathon. Over 200 children participate in the summer ball program. Valley Falls High School baseball and softball teams also utilize the fields as their home fields each year. The baseball team participated in the 2A state baseball tournament in 2009 and in 2010. The 2010 team took second place!
Thank you to everyone that makes our program successful. It is with great pride that we can continue the tradition of the sport with everyone's support.
